Cybersecurity and policy experts convened on the sidelines of the RSA Conference in San Francisco for a lunchtime discussion hosted by BSA | The Software Alliance featuring staff leaders from Capitol Hill speaking to the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Bipartisan staff leaders from the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on CybersecurityInfrastructure Protection, Senate Committee on Homeland SecurityGovernmental Affairs, and House Homeland Security Subcommittee on CybersecurityInfrastructure Protection joined BSA Senior Director of Policy Henry Young for the discussion at Workday’s office in San Francisco. Speakers talked about the need for policymakers to address the challenges of high-risk uses of AI systems while promoting AI for cybersecurity. Industry leaders agreed that AI will be a net benefit for cybersecurity. The audience, which included industry leaders, cybersecurity experts, convened to discuss leveraging AI to create a more secure world to combat malicious actors. Last fall, BSA launched AI for Cybersecurity: Ensuring Cyber Defenders Can Leverage AI to Protect Customers and Citizens,” detailing how artificial intelligence can make mitigating cyber risks and finding solutions more efficient and effective. BSA asked policymakers to learn more about the benefits of using AI tools for cybersecurity and that it should be a top priority for policymakers.
